Impact & Risks

Stubble burning contributes to severe air pollution, impacting public health and air quality in Punjab and neighbouring regions, including Delhi. The high number of incidents in districts like Tarn Taran and Amritsar indicates concentrated hotspots of pollution. The fines imposed and inspections conducted highlight the ongoing struggle to enforce regulations and deter the practice. The environmental and health risks associated with stubble burning, such as respiratory issues and reduced visibility, remain a pressing concern.
